MECHANISM FOR LOADING CARTRIDGE

A mechanism for loading a cartridge comprising a carrier movable between a first position for inserting a magnetic tape cartridge having an opening/closing shutter and a cut and a second position for fixing a magnetic tape cartridge to a reel motor, and a shutter open mechanism secured to the base of a magnetic tape unit having a part engaging with the shutter to open it. The loading mechanism further comprises a leaf spring fixed to a carrier having a hook capable of engaging with the cut of the magnetic tape cartridge at the forward thereof, and a drive mechanism for moving the carrier between the first and second positions. When the hook engages with the cut at a third position in the middle of movement of the carrier from the first position to the second position, the engaging part of the shutter open mechanism begins to engage with the shutter.
