<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low-cost device capable of determining an operating state of an on-off valve at the start of anti-lock control in a hydraulic brake device for a vehicle for opening and closing a hydraulic pressure passage supplying output hydraulic pressure of a pressure regulating valve to a hydraulic pressure system with the on-off valve. <P>SOLUTION: The hydraulic pressure passage Hb supplying the output hydraulic pressure of the pressure regulating valve RG is connected to the hydraulic pressure system MH from a master cylinder MC to a wheel cylinder W1 or the like, and the solenoid on-off valve NC for opening and closing the hydraulic pressure passage is provided. A differential pressure setting means (e.g. a compression spring 8) is provided to set the output hydraulic pressure of the pressure regulating valve RG to be higher than output brake hydraulic pressure of the master cylinder MC when the solenoid on-off valve is set for a closing position.
