PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having an induction heating fixing device which appropriately suppresses the temperature rising in a non-paper passage area and continues a stable, high quality fixing without causing offset or fixing unevenness. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of the induction heating system has: a rotor heating member that generates heat by causing induction currents having resonance frequencies to flow in a plurality of parallel induction coils from a high-frequency power source for variable output frequencies; and a pressurizing member that is in firm contact with the rotor heating member. The resonance frequencies of the induction coils are equal to or higher than at least two levels. Output patterns by resonance frequencies corresponding to the plurality of induction coils are altered by the operation modes of the image forming apparatus. In the image forming apparatus using the fixing device of the induction heat system, at least one or more temperature detection means are provided opposite the maximum heat generation density areas of heat generation distributions for the outputs of corresponding frequencies.
