A drawer (40) can be moved in and out of the platform (2) in the platform cross-direction (38) using a drive device (52, 54, 56). The drawer has a horizontal work region (43) which extends parallel to and substantially flush with the platform work surface (12) when retracted. When the drawer is pulled out, its work region abuts the platform work surface and forms an extension of the latter.
