<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door handle device for a vehicle, which includes a handle case fixed to a door panel and having a case main body abutting on an outer surface of the door panel at a peripheral edge of an aperture, and a bearing arm extending to the inside of the door panel, fixed to the door panel, and a door handle rotatably borne by the bearing arm via a spindle, wherein the door panel is prevented from application of locally concentrated stress thereto even if an operating force is further applied to the door handle located at a rotationally limited edge. <P>SOLUTION: According to the structure of the door handle device, the aperture 19 is formed like a quadrangular shape having first and second sides 19a, 19b almost in parallel with each other, and a reinforcing plate 16 abuts on an inner surface of the door panel 11 at the peripheral edge of the aperture 19. The reinforcing plate 16 has a pinched portion 16a pinched by the door panel 11 and the bearing arm 14b at a location outside the first side 19a, and a mounting plate portion 16b pinching the door panel 11 in cooperation with a case main portion 14a at a location outside the second side 19b.
