PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical beam scanner capable of suppressing an adverse effect (change in the relative position between a rotary polygon mirror and other optical components) due to heat generation of a motor, without requiring a special member for discharging heat outside from the motor which is a source of rotatably driving the rotary polygon mirror, in an optical beam scanner for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum, and also to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the optical beam scanner. SOLUTION: In the bottom plate 60a of the housing 60 serving as a route of heat conduction to fθlenses 64, 65 from the motor 80 which is the driving source of a rotary polygon mirror 62, there is formed a heat conduction bypass 70 that extends the distance of this heat conduction route. The heat generated by the motor 80 is mostly radiated during the transmission from the motor installed part to the optical component mounting part, so that temperature rising at the optical component mounting part can be suppressed.
