PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capping device which prevents formation of scratched roll marks on a cap after screw forming by specifying a circumferential location of a male screw portion formed on a container mouth portion before screw forming in a cap, and exhibits an excellent effect at the time of opening or re-opening the cap. SOLUTION: The capping device is formed of a holding portion (container mounting stand 43) which is rotatable and holds the container at a location that allows the forming rolls to mold a screw in the cap; and a location setting means (rotation control mechanism) which rotates the container together with the holding portion so that the male screw portion of the container mouth is set to a circumferentially predetermined location with respect to a specific location at which the forming rolls abut on the outer peripheral surface of the cap, before they abut on the outer peripheral surface of the cap.
