PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter apparatus capable of replacing a filter in an extremely easy manner and hard to cause clogging. SOLUTION: Filter housing parts 5, which have lateral opening parts 12 opened in a lateral direction and house filters 17, are provided over a plurality of stages in an up and down direction and flow channels 6 for guiding a filtering target liquid to the filter housing part 5 on the downstream side from the filter housing part 5 on the upstream side are provided. The filter housing part 5 of each of the stages is constituted so that the filter 17 is taken out to the outside from the inside of the filter housing part 5 through the lateral opening part 12 while the filter 17 is housed in the filter housing part 5 from the outside. The filtering target liquid is allowed to successively flow down to the filter housing parts 5 on the downstream side while passed through the filters 17 in the filter housing parts 5 of the respective stages and the flow channels 6 from the filter housing part 5 of the uppermost stage.
