The appliance consists of a lip shield (6) with at least one perforation and a projecting pref. elastic chamber (5) with aperture (8) connecting it to the oral cavity. The chamber is connected detachable to the lip shield, and in this position is in connection with the inter-occlusal chamber, to support generation and indication of an inter-occlusal vacuum. The appliance is of bio-compatible elastic material. The elastic chamber is compressed by pressure of the lips, and indicates typical vacuums by deformation. The chamber has a closeable opening with plug (12) with pressure registration (14) on one side and indicator (13) on the other side. Alternatively, there may be electronic pressure indication with remote data transfer to an X-ray machine. The lip shield may be partially or completely of thermoplastic plastic.
