PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display panel which can enhance the tolerance in alignment of transparent substrates arranged to face each other and can facilitate discovery and repair of a shorting defect in case of the occurrence of such defect between a video signal line and another electrode adjacent to the video signal line. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display panel has scanning signal lines, the video signal lines 3 and electrodes 18 for display on one substrate 1A of the transparent substrates 1A and 1B arranged to face each other across a liquid crystal layer. The above panel has protective films 19 formed on the lines 3, conductive layers 100 consisting of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) formed on the protective films 19 and superposed on the lines 3 and an alignment layer 20 formed to cover the conductive layers 100.
