The device has a pipe (2), whose outer surface is at least partly provided with cooling ribs (3,4) whose free edges facing away from the pipe are provided with a cover at least in some areas. The pipe is flattened and has at least one flat surface that is occupied by ribs. The cover is in the form of plates (5,6) attached to the edges of the ribs. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of manufacturing a heat exchanger (b) and a power generation system with an inventive heat exchanger.
