The invention relates to a card housing device (1) of flat construction, with complete insertion of a card (2) through a narrow housing opening (5) which may be sealed by means of a seal (6), comprising a sealing element (7), whereby the sealing element (7) may be displaced in a direction normal to a displacement plane (4) of the card (2). Conventional devices of this type are unsuitable for application in a tachograph due to installation requirements. According to the invention, the sealing element (7) on the card housing device (1) is spring-mounted by means of at least one elastic element (8).
