PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method, an image processor, an image reader, an image forming device, a program, and a recording medium which determine the number of dot lines of a document image with a simple constitution to reproduce a satisfactory output image. SOLUTION: A first dot determination part 8 calculated the number of dot region pixels to determine whether the document image includes dots or not, and the number of dot lines is determined by a number of dot line determination part 9 in the case that it is determined that the document image includes dots. The determination part 9 counts two or more kinds of feature variables, for example, the number of times of inversion of input image data and difference values of pixels in a mask, which are obtained from respective pixels of the document image, to calculate the number of dot region pixels. The number of lines of dots is determined in accordance with the ratio of the numbers of dot pixels calculated by the first dot determination part 8 and the determination part 9. A control part 17 controls the determination part 9 so that the number of dot lines is determined only when it is determined that the document image includes dots. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
