PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus which can output a proper black and white image of a subject under low illumination, in the endoscopic equipment for outputting an image signal either in color mode or monochromatic mode. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope apparatus obtains an image signal by automatic exposure control through an image pickup device, and outputs the image signal in either the color mode or the monochromatic mode.
