PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent mounting defects in mounting a fluorescent lamp on a lamp socket in correspondence with the fluorescent lamp having a terminal at the side face. SOLUTION: In the lamp socket 10 housing two socket electrodes 13 in a socket case consisting of a case main body 11 and a bottom plate 12, an angleθ<SB>3</SB>formed by a bottom plate part 15 of the socket electrode 13 and an inner face 12a of the bottom plate 12 of the socket case is to be around 5 to 20°, and a space is provided under the bottom plate part 15 for allowing movement of a coupling part of a second longitudinal plate part 16 and the bottom plate part 15 in an insertion direction P of a lamp pin 23.
