PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve control device for a multiple room air-conditioner, preventing the leakage of refrigerant emerging as a problem when additionally installing indoor units for the air-conditioner, in particular, by completely detecting non-connected rooms and fully opening expansion valves in the non-connected rooms. SOLUTION: The multiple room air-conditioner having at least two room indoor units connected comprises a refrigerating cycle having built-in expansion valves and including a refrigerant branching unit for branching the refrigerant into the plurality of indoor units. A control device for the indoor units and a control device for the refrigerant branching unit are connected to each other via a communicating means, and the control device for the refrigerant branching unit controls the opening of the electric operated expansion valves in accordance with commands from the control device for the indoor units. When the interruption of communication between the control device for the indoor units and the refrigerant branch unit is detected, the electric operated expansion valves are fully opened.
