PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slip control device for a torque converter capable of smoothly performing the transfer to a slip control of a lockup clutch regardless of the deterioration with the time. SOLUTION: The slip control device of the torque converter is equipped with a pre-laid compensator to compensate the target slip rotation in accordance with the change of slip rotation immediately before the control is changed over from the open loop control to the slip control in case changing-over is made from the open loop control to the slip control at the time of locking-up.
