PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adaptability (versatility) by enabling detection of a mold closed position detectable even when mold clamping force is reduced or made null in view of energy saving or with the increase etc., of a thin-wall molding, to improve accuracy concerning detection, to reduce fluctuation of detection, and to improve the response of control and control accuracy by using the mold closed position. SOLUTION: When a mold closing process is executed, the position of a movable mold Cm is detected directly by a first position detection means 2 to obtain first position data Da..., and a physical quantity excluding the position of the movable mold Cm is detected indirectly by a second position detection means 3 to obtain second position data Db... concerning the position of the movable mold Cm. The ratios Ed... of the unit displacement quantities ma... of the first position data Da... to the unit displacement quantities mb... of the second position data Db... are obtained in turn. If the changes of the ratios Ed... meet closing detection conditions set up in advance, the first position data Da when the closing detection conditions are satisfied is detected as the mold closed position Xcc.
