PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel and a driving method therefore that remove wrong discharge possibly caused by strong discharge in a reset period. SOLUTION: A wrong discharge erasure period is added between the reset period and an address period. Through unstable resetting operation in the reset period, many (-) electric charges and (+) electric charges can be generated at a scanning electrode and a maintaining electrode. With those electric charges, discharge can be caused between the scanning electrode and maintaining electrode in the wrong discharge erasure period even in the absence of address discharge in the address period. In the wrong discharge period, a voltage is applied between the scanning electrode and maintaining electrode to cause discharge, thereby generating (+) electric charges and (-) electric charges at the scanning electrode and maintaining electrode respectively. Then an erasure waveform is applied to erase the (+) electric charges and (-) electric charges generated at the scanning electrode and maintaining electrode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
