PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit which can stably charge a storage battery. SOLUTION: A control circuit 22 makes a charge circuit 23 perform step-down operation while the charge voltage of the storage battery 25 is low, and lowers a DC voltage that a rectifying circuit 21 outputs, and supplies it to the storage battery 25. When the charge voltage of the storage battery 25 goes up and reaches a reference voltage, the control circuit 22 lowers the voltage value of the DC voltage that the rectifying circuit 21 outputs, and switches the operation of the charge circuit 23 from a step-down operation to a step-up operation, and continues the charge to the storage battery. Since the voltage value of the charge voltage and the voltage value of a DC voltage do not become equal, switching from the step-down operation to the step-up operation is performed stably.
