PURPOSE: A preheating apparatus for a scarfing slab concavity caused by a tong crane is provided to prevent quality and stability of products from being lowered by preventing a lateral portion of the slab from being over melted. CONSTITUTION: A preheating apparatus includes a slab concavity detecting section(100) and a slab concavity preheating section(200). The slab concavity detecting section(100) has a rotating bar(120), a proximity sensor installed in a case(130), and an air cylinder(150) connected to the rotating bar(120). The slab concavity preheating section(200) has a reversible motor(220) installed in a receiving section(210), a pair of guide rails(230), a moving block(250) moving along the guide rails(230), a nozzle block(260), a photo sensor installed in front of the nozzle block(260), and a preheating nozzle(280).
