PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely predict the life of a fixing device resulting from scraping at the ends of paper.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a fixing device that causes a recording material having an image formed thereon by image forming means to pass through a fixing nip part to fix the image; temperature detection means for detecting the temperature of the fixing device; measuring means for measuring a time that the recording material has passed through the fixing device for each size of the recording material; and control means for determining the life of the fixing device on the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature detection means and the time measured by the measuring means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
