Liquid alloy of gallium is used as the indicator fluid in a thermometer. The alloy consists of indium, zinc and less than 65 % gallium by weight. The alloy is devoid of gas and other metal oxides, has a melting point at ambient pressure below 0 [deg] C, and below -10 [deg] C within a strong vacuum. The temperature measuring range is from -15 to +1200 [deg] C. The alloy is 50-65 % Ga, 10-24.9 % In. The alloy may further contain Sn, 0-29 % Zn and 0-10 % Pb by weight.
|
