A gas- or aerosol-generator (9) is connected to the vehicle (4) washing and painting chamber. The gas or aerosol enters the chamber via a pipe in the roof (5) of an inner chamber (1). There is an outlet channel (3) in the floor. A longitudinally-movable outer part (2) is movable with respect to the inner part and fits over it for adjustment of the size of the chamber to suit vehicles of different sizes. A large door (10) closes the end of the outer part of the chamber.
