The sealing device (10) is attached to the outer surface (5) at the edge (6) of one of the pipes (1). It has an inclined front segment (11) made of a slightly more rigid elastic material in order to be easily inserted into the opposite pipe (2) end without being accidentally damaged. A soft central segment (12) facilitates the adjustment to a slightly deformed area, while the more rigid rear segment (13) serves as a base for a lip (14) at the soft segment (12) if this is pushed back during the joining process.
