PURPOSE: A power converter, which is appropriately applied to a main circuit, is provided to downsize the device and ensure a high conversion efficiency by simplifying control circuits. CONSTITUTION: A power converter includes a transformer(23), a full bridge rectifying circuit(25), a connection member(28), and a control circuit(27). The full bridge rectifying circuit has at least a pair of self arc-discharge suppressing elements(253,254) located on a second side of the transformer and driven while inverted. The connection member connects a negative pole side connection line on the second side of the transformer with a negative pole side connection line on a first side of the transformer. The control circuit is commonly used to drive circuits on the first side and the second side of the transformer. The self arc-discharge suppressing elements are driven by the control circuit.
