PURPOSE: A system and a method for linking an electronic document viewer with a knowledge management server using the Internet and the network are provided to conveniently view a document and search knowledge by displaying a result, as the corresponding knowledge is linked with the knowledge management server if the user viewing the document with the electronic document viewer clicks a word unit or a word. CONSTITUTION: The electronic document viewer(100) performs a function for viewing an electronic document. The knowledge management server(200) performs a knowledge search function for the word desired from the user. A communication network(300) connects to the electronic document viewer with the knowledge management server. The electronic document viewer comprises a word extractor extracting a code value of the word or the word unit by using a position of a mouse pointer, an option part enabling the user to select a sort of the desired knowledge, and a transmitter. The knowledge management server comprises the word extractor extracting the code value of the searchable word from the received code value, a record searcher, and a knowledge search result calculator.
