PURPOSE: A digital stream remultiplexing device through buffer management and a method thereof are provided to calculate an amount of data of broadcasting streams of each channel when the broadcasting streams are inputted, and to compare the data of each channel to determine a remultiplexing period, then to perform a remultiplexing process, thereby optimizing a capacity of a temporary buffer for remultiplexing. CONSTITUTION: Input units(11) receive multiplexed digital streams, and array the streams in packet unit. Calculators(12) receive the arrayed digital streams, and calculate an amount of data of the digital streams. Processors(13) receive the digital streams, and perform a digital stream process for remultiplexing. Buffers(14) receive the digital streams, and temporarily store the streams for remultiplexing. A controller determines a remultiplexing period for reading the stored digital streams according to the calculated amount of the data. A remultiplexing unit(16) reads and remultiplexes the stored digital streams.
