PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to diagnose the size of a local tumor by fluorescence detecting only cancer cell through the use of a photosensitizer and photo-chemical reaction. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a light source(a) including a blue laser diode having an output of 30 to 500mW, an optical fiber, a photo-coupler, and a power unit; a detection unit(c) including a long-pass filter(7) for cutting off the light of short wavelength, a camera head mounted with a CCD camera(8), a coupler for coupling the light source to an endoscope, a color monitor(9), and a PDD image processor(10) for accuracy of diagnosis; and a controller(11) for controlling the light source and the detection unit.
