PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent material for EL elements having high emission brightness and luminous efficiency and excellent heat resistance and durability. SOLUTION: The organic EL element is characterized as follows. The organic El element is provided with a base, an anode, an organic layer and a cathode and the organic layer contains at least one of compound represented by the general formula (wherein, R1 to R8 are each the same or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C straight-chain or a 1-6C branched alkyl group or a 1-6C straight-chain or a 1-6C branched alkoxy group; and the central skeleton X is an aromatic substituent, more preferably an electron accepting substituent).
