PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the uneven distribution of a protective layer forming material remaining in a roller during the dwell time of operation. SOLUTION: A robot capable of teaching operation is provided in the vicinity of a transport line to which a plurality of vehicles or carriages are successively transported. The robot is provided with a freely rotatable roller of a material capable of absorbing and storing a protective layer forming material. A control part controlling the robot receives production management information from a production management information feeding part, and recognizes the number of continuously transported carriages requiring no coating based on the production management information. The fact that vehicles or carriages are transported is confirmed (step S209), and warming-up operation is performed as the protective layer forming material is shielded every time a carriage requiring no coating is transported (step S212). The warming-up operation is performed while feeding the protective layer forming material at the time when the continuous number of the carriages requiring no coating is made two (step S211).
