PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a lithographic printing plate by which a photopolymerizable photosensitive lithographic printing plate material can be developed with stable and favorable development properties in a non-image part and with little damage and firm image strength in an image part and the plate has excellent printing durability, and to provide a development solution generating little odor and having excellent handling properties for a photosensitive lithographic printing material. SOLUTION: A photosensitive lithographic printing plate material has, on an aluminum plate support body, a photosensitive layer of a photopolymerizable photosensitive resin composition which contains a monomer containing an ethylenically double bond, a photopolymerization initiator and a polymer binder. The photosensitive lithographic printing plate material is exposed image-wise to 390 to 550 nm laser light, is developed with a development solution which is an alkaline aqueous solution containing at least an inorganic alkaline agent and a specified nonionic surfactant and having a pH of 8.5 to 12.5.
