MANUFACTURING METHOD OF THERMOPLASTIC COPOLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glutaric anhydride unit-containing thermoplastic copolymer excellent in heat resistance and having high-degree colorless transparency and stagnation stability. SOLUTION: An original copolymer comprising (i) an alkyl unsaturated carboxylate unit and (ii) an unsaturated carboxylic acid unit is subjected to a heat treatment thereby causing a dehydration reaction and/or a dealcoholation reaction to give the thermoplastic copolymer containing (iii) a glutaric anhydride unit, where a continuous biaxial reaction apparatus equipped with a plurality of convex lens type and/or elliptic plate-shaped paddles is used as the heating treatment apparatus.
