PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method which facilitate the operation for white balance adjustment and improve its performance. SOLUTION: To deal with imaging under a high color temperature, a blackbody radiation curve is considered as a straight line (color temperature change straight line) on coordinates represented with (R-B) axis and (R+B-2G) axis for example, and a present color temperature is estimated from numerical integration data of R, G, and B signals, and pull-in operation along the color temperature change straight line is performed. Besides under the high color temperature, the present color temperature is estimated so that beige may remain when an R component is more than the R/G/B integration data, and that green may remain when a G component is more, instead of necessarily converging to achromatic color being a convergent point of white balance control, and a control target value is calculated according to an object to perform convergence.
