PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine with a mechanical governor capable of regulating the upper limit for the opening angle of a governor weight for preventing rotation hunting. SOLUTION: A governor holder 21 is provided on an engine body wall 20, and a governor lever 18 is pivotally supported by a pivotal shaft 22 to the governor holder 21 in this engine with a mechanical governor. A stopper 24 of a governor lever 18 is provided on the governor holder 21. With the stopper 24, oscillation 18a of the governor lever 18 in a fuel reducing direction is received, thereby the upper limit of the opening angle of the governor weight 33 is regulated.
