PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display having high luminance while preventing contrast from being lowered by the reflection of external light. SOLUTION: This organic EL display 1 is composed of a transparent substrate 6 and an organic EL element 7 installed on the transparent substrate 6. The organic EL element 7 is composed of a transparent electrode 4, a metal electrode 2 having a reflecting and scattering function, an organic thin film layer 3 held between a pair of these electrodes, and a color filter 5 disposed on the transparent electrode 4 side, and the color filter 5, the transparent electrode 4, the organic thin film layer 3 and the metal electrode 2 are laminated in consecutive order on the transparent substrate 6.
