A tracheostomy device has a short tube (10, 10', 10") terminating adjacent the internal end of an opening (4) into the trachea (2). A flange (13) secures the external end of the tube and a retainer (14, 45, 59, 61) secures the internal end of the tube against the surface of the trachea (2). The device also includes a seal (3, 60), which engages the surface of the trachea (2) above the opening, and a suction passage (34) extending externally by which secretions can be removed. |
