For the purpose of fastening safety elements 30 on a roof with a supporting underlay 10 and a covering of an insulating or sealing material 11, 12 arranged thereon, a plate 13 is connected to the supporting underlay 10, which plate has, on its outer side facing away from the underlay 10, an upwardly projecting member 16 with a through-hole 20 in a delimiting surface 18 at a distance from the plate 13. A standard 22 can be guided down through the hole 20 and connected to the plate 13 by means of a bolt 28 in a portion 27 raised from the plate material. The standard 22 has a length which exceeds the thickness of the covering 11, 12 so as to make possible connection to said safety elements 30. The bolt 28 prevents movement of the standard 22 in its longitudinal direction and, by virtue of the fact that the periphery of the through-hole 20 bears against the periphery of the standard 22, movements of the standard 22 caused by force exerted at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the standard 22 are counteracted. In this way, a safe reliable connection between the safety elements 30 and the underlay 10 of the roof is obtained. <IMAGE>
