PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide picture recorder which forms a system having usual hard disc regions and virtual hard disc regions mixed together on one hard disc to deal with various input formats. SOLUTION: The picture recorder having a hard disc 3 for recording picture signals comprises an HDD file system 11 and a virtual disc file system 21. It executes settings 12, 22 of HDD logic sectors and virtual disc logic sectors, respectively, executes a conversion 14 of the HDD logic sectors and the virtual disc logic sectors subjected to a conversion 23 to the HDD logic sector to HDD physical sectors, and respectively accesses the hard disc 3, thus structuring a hard disc having usual HDD regions and virtual disc regions mixed together.
