<p>An outdoor unit for an air conditioner is a fin tube heat exchanger where a heat exchanger (5) received in a housing (4) of an upward blowing outdoor unit is stood so as to be opposed to a suction opening (3) and where rows of heat exchanger units constructed from heat-transmitting tubes are arranged in an airflow direction. A supercooled heat exchanger section (5S) is provided in a first-row heat exchanger unit (5l1) on the suction opening side, and this section (5S) is provided at the lower part of the first-row heat exchanger unit (5l1) so as to occupy 20-50%, and preferably 30-40%, of the overall length of the first-row heat exchanger unit (5l1).</p>
