PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head in which the overwrite property is improvable by reducing the magnetic saturation in a magnetic pole layer. SOLUTION: An auxiliary magnetic pole layer 31 formed with a magnetic material is arranged between a Gd arrangement layer 32 and a lower core layer 30, and since a rear end surface 34a of the lower magnetic pole layer 34 is connected to a front end surface 31a of the auxiliary magnetic pole layer 31, the magnetic saturation in the lower magnetic pole layer 34 is reducible, and the rise of the overwrite property of the magnetic head becomes steep. Also, a recording current can be reduced since an absolute value of the overwrite property is increased. Also, a magnetic flux is released to the auxiliary magnetic pole layer 31 from a backward portion of the upper magnetic pole layer 36, and the side fringing is reducible. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
