PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new treating method for detoxicating dioxins, which dechlorinates to detoxicate dioxins in incineration ash containing furnace materials resulting from the dismantling of a waste furnace or in other incineration ash at a storage facility or a waste furnace dismantling site by using a mobile apparatus and a simple and safe method. SOLUTION: According to the treating method, the dioxins in the incineration ash containing the furnace materials resulting from the dismantling of the waste furnace or in other incineration ash are dispersed into methanol, or into a mixed solvent which is a mixture of methanol and various organic solvents, and metal magnesium is reacted with the methanol or solvent dispersed with the dioxins. If necessary, iodine or iodide is added to the dioxin-containing methanol or solvent, or ultrasonic wave is applied, or the incineration ash is subjected to a heat treatment beforehand, in order to facilitate the treatment.
