PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the pseudo contour of an image caused by image data inconspicuous. SOLUTION: The image data expressing the image by a plurality of pixels practically having luminance respectively are read(S2). A frequency distribution x of the number of pixels for every luminance is obtained (S4, S6). A frequency distribution y is obtained by performing a predetermined smoothing processing to the frequency distribution x (S8). An image evaluation value is determined from the distribution x and the distribution y (S10). Then, a noise is added to the image data according to the image evaluation value (14, 16).
