PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a module core type heat exchanger with a plurality of cores, easy to assemble and manufacture. SOLUTION: In manufacturing the heat exchanger, a number of tubes 1 and a number of fins 2 are arranged side by side to form their aggregate and the ends of the tubes 1 are inserted through tube insertion holes 3a of slender header plates 3 bent in grooved shape to assemble the cores 4. Then, the plurality of cores 4 are layered in the cross direction so that the edges of the header plates 3 have contact with each other and an opening of a header body 5 is fitted to the peripheral edges of the plurality of layered header plates 3 to assemble the heat exchanger.
