PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal which can be mounted on the rim of a container where an opening is arranged. SOLUTION: The seal (10) is formed independently of a substantially rigid periphery mounting ring (16) which is snap fitted into the rim (14) of the container, and has an elastic and flexible central panel (18) which is tightly connected with this, the central panel can be flexed selectively both inside and outside the interior of the container, and can cope with both an excessive filling condition and an insufficient filling condition in accordance with a change in a head space (filling space) under the mounted seal.
