PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle device which detects infiltration of cutting fluid thereinto before infiltration of the same into a bearing, to thereby stably maintain the lubricity of the spindle bearing over a long period of time without a long-time halt of operation of a machine. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the spindle device, an outer ring 1a of the bearing 1 is pressed inward via an outer ring spacer 4 by means of a front lid 3 mounted at the tip of a housing main body 2, and an inner ring 1b of the bearing 1 is pressed inward via an inner ring spacer 7 by a nut 6 screwed onto a spindle 5. Then a cover 8 is mounted on a front surface of the front lid 3 so as to cover the front surface of the front lid and a front surface of the nut 6. Further, an annular space 9 is defined by the outer ring spacer 4, the front lid 3, the nut 6, and the inner ring spacer 7. Furthermore a labyrinth 13 is arranged on an inner peripheral surface of the cover 8, and an interval between the inner peripheral surface of the cover 8 and an outer peripheral surface of the spindle 5 is sealed.
