PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch adjustment method capable of rapidly adjusting the pitches of coiled springs of irregular pitches or pitches of a plurality of steps with high accuracy according to their characteristics even when such coiled springs are formed with a coiled spring making machine for forming the coiled springs based on NC (numerical control) data. SOLUTION: The basic NC data are obtained by setting an instructed pitch value in a prescribed proportional relation with respect to a target pitch value. The actually measured pitch value when the coiled spring 1 is formed by driving the coiled spring making machine 20 based thereon is compared with the target pitch value. Based on the deviation therebetween, the operation start position of a pitch tool is adjusted so as to make the delay component with respect to the proportional relation between the actually measured pitch value and the instructed pitch value coincident with the delay component (A) of the prescribed proportional relation. The ratio of the moving quantity of the pitch tool to the instructed value of the pitch is adjusted so as to make the proportional coefficient thereof coincident with the proportional coefficient (B) of the prescribed proportional relation, so that the pitch of the coiled spring is adjusted.
