PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for coating paper coatable by using curtain coating and affording coated paper excellent in productivity (high-speed coating properties and high-solids coating properties) and excellent in quality (coating properties and a paper surface feeling without coating defects), and to provide a method for producing the coated paper. SOLUTION: The composition for coating the paper has 50-1,500 mPa s viscosity and 25-65 mN/m value of dynamic surface tension at 10 ms surface life. Furthermore, a wetting agent can be contained in the composition. The method for production comprises a coating step of carrying out the curtain coating of the composition for coating the paper on the surface of coating base paper at 600-2,800 m/min coating speed and a drying step of drying the composition for coating the paper after the coating step.
