PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire-resistant bulkhead structure capable of stopping propagation of the fire in an engine compartment into the intra-car space and provide a fire-resistant coating method for the engine compartment. SOLUTION: A fire-resistant bulkhead 10 according to the invention to partition the engine compartment 3 in the body 1 of an automobile etc. from the cabin 5 as the intra-car space is equipped with a plate 11 and a fireproof sheet 15 consisting of a thermally expansive heat-resistant material laminated on the plate 11. Another form of the embodiment of the fire-resistant bulkhead structure is such that a pipe 20 penetrates the plate 11 and a fireproof sheet 16 of the thermally expansive heat-resistant material is affixed to the plate 11 around a through hole 14 or that a fireproof tape 17 consisting of the thermally expansive fire-resistant material is wound round the pipe 20 in proximity to the through hole 14.
