PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure contact mechanism for a thermal head which can prevent deterioration of the recording grade by controlling so as not to make pressure contact force of the thermal head to a body to be recorded excessive while holding adhesiveness between the thermal head and the body to be recorded. SOLUTION: Buffering members 12, 13, and 16, which are made to project on the platen 3 side compared with a heating element 4 and which can relax the pressure contact force of the thermal head 1 to the body 8 to be recorded, are arranged to at least one of clearances between the external position of the thermal head 1 and each heating element 4 so as to be capable of relatively contacting/separating to the platen 3 together with the thermal head 1.
